I taste like Grape!

I think I'm due for an LJ Life Update!

I've got a little problem, and it's name is "High School Musical".

We're fresh faced "teens"!

Guys, I tried not to love this, but during my week of solitude (when I skipped out on Prophecy) it came on the Disney Channel- and I loved it. It has the same ridiculous, so-bad-it's-good quality that makes me watch reality programming on Bravo! and it has the yummy/somewhatgay boy element that made me watch Newsies about 600 times as a pre-teen.

"High School Musical 2" came out last week amongst a tidal wave of media promotion, and I got swept along. The sequel isn't nearly as satisfying, but it still has the same doe eyed innocence as the first- and I like that sort of thing in my guilty pleasure viewing.

Also, Hannah Montana is the shiz. Just putting that out there.

Other Matters:
-SpinnersCast is going along swimmingly. Now that things have calmed down from the HPDH release, we can concentrate on the show and the site again. We lost an editor but gained a promoter today. I'm alright with it, as it's the same person- but the editing workload is rather a lot. I'm trying not to stress about it! Also, I really want the SPC Army to be more of a presence online. They happily send emails and the like, but I want them to be a vocal, overbearing, yet refined mob of listeners. Not sure how to go about encouraging that without inciting riot activity, but we'll see. Episode 45 is delayed thanks to some exporting issues, but again- not going to stress about it.

-I'm confirmed for Wrockstock, and Terminus!! I'm probably going to Portus as well if SPC performs there.

-Still looking for a proper job in LA. I found a fantastic position with a great company to help create a podcast-- but the job is freelance, and I really don't like the trepidation of non-fulltime/contract/permanent work. I like having a real salary, with insurance, benefits and the like. That's possible to find- right? ...please say yes.

-I finished my "Pay it Back" gift for [info]forcedrhyme last night. Immediately upon completion I found a knitting project that I think she'd LOVE. *facepalm* Oh well. I tried to start on Mikey's gift today, but my hands are cramping from excessive knittery.

-I've been working out and trying to do good things for myself, and overall- it makes me a Happy Kim. I may actually start a separate workout blog, since I rather enjoy writing, and it could be a nifty source of encouragement to help trim the excess booty.

Ah, that's it for now I suppose. There are other tidbits on my mind, but I don't feel like writing about them at the mo'. Also, that chamomile tea is kicking in.

Sleepy.

Pull up a chair... we'll be here for a while.

"*snort* How OLD are you, Kim?"
"Oh, I'm 25. Quite grown, really."
"Well, what is WITH this Harry Potter phenomenon!? It scares me, quite frankly."
"Well that's a shame. You're missing out on a lot, believe it or not."

-excerpt from an interview with a snarky BBC presenter

(Obligatory spoiler alert here- but I'm pretty sure you all have finished the book... or you wouldn't be back on LJ)
It's been a while since I wrote that slightly tortured and pleasantly crazy post about my initial reaction to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- and as everyone predicted, not long after reading through the book a second time (and feeling much calmer while doing so) I rolled my Slytherin tie back up in it's special bag, and wore my house sweater to work (it was laundry day). So all is well on that front- though I guess I have to call myself a "Slythindor", since my reaction to the betrayal of my House's students (the scene in the Great Hall when all of the students stand up to defend Harry from the Death Eaters... 'ceptin' the Slytherins, who were anxious to save their own skins) was pretty violent.

Luckily, I look just as good in maroon and gold as I do in green and silver. Perhaps someone out there has made socks or scarves that combine those two houses? I'll be on the hunt.

In other news, I'm not going to Prophecy. Yes, I know- it sucks. I'm getting stick from everyone (a lot of whom I don't actually know) about it, but I appreciate their cries of sadness and outrage as it would suck a lot more if people didn't really care either way.

Why am I doing this? This has been one of the best summers of my life. That's a pretty huge statement to make- but it's true. From Phoenix Rising to the Book Release and all of the suprises and craziness in between, it's been an amazing time- and I've met literally hundreds of new friends, all of whom are going to stick around for a long while.

So don't think I don't appreciate my fandom(FAR from the truth)- but sometimes life gets in the way.

I am in the midst of working towards a pretty major career change, and I'm also planning to relocate to California by late Fall. I need money to do this, so I am now on a *deep, painful shudder* BUDGET. I know I could still go to Canada, and be desperately poor- but sometimes you have to be a bit of a grown-up. I've put my registration and ball tickets up for transfer, so hopefully I can get some moolah back.

THIS is why I wish SPC weren't an independent podcast (ie. we're not an extension of any major website...by choice), because then me, Q, and Cause could all go to Canada, with minimum out of pocket charges, and swimming in promotional merch. Oh well.

Speaking of SpinnersCast- a small plug is necessary: Please vote for us daily for the "Best Cultural/Arts" podcast in this year's Podcast Awards.

It'd be incredible to win! Also, support the S-Cast Alliance, and vote for our friends from SnapeCast in the "Entertainment" category, and SlashCast in the "GLBT" category!

HP Podcasts FTW! (also, did you enjoy the shout out to podcasts that Jo slipped into HPDH? I'm pretty sure I got texts from all of my podcasting friends when they got to that chapter)

A Tale of Two Blog Entries

Better late than never.

Watching the President's press conference about the war right now. I find it amusing that now- in the final years of his time in office, the Washington press corps is FINALLY offering up some real questions.

...I guess they've finally been taking note of their readership. *rolls eyes*

I know- I can talk a lot of crap, but I'll admit I don't know if I would have been ballsy enough to truly give The People their voice when going head to head with the Commander in Chief 4 years ago amongst a frightened and fiercely flag waving populous. Then again, I was in college- and these people have an average of 15 years of politicial reporting experience under their belts.

*shrug*

Switching gears now, last weekend was a blast and a half. Thank you so much to all of the brilliant Potter people who came out to California to have a great time. The premiere festivities were amazing- even if the movie was so-so. I can't go into too much detail (I really should have been blogging daily), but I will tell you I have become a Rupert Grint and David Heyman fangirl. I also have a thing for Rupert's brother, but that may be a tad creepy, so I won't go too far into it. A special thanks to Heidi, the Head Gal behind fictionalley.com for hooking me up with the pass to get into the IMAX premiere of the movie. The overall experience was amazing.

The team of Kim and Causey officially left a mark on the SoCal area, and I now believe that California is totally the place to be. I've never been so reticent to return to Arkansas (well, except when I came back from Phoenix Rising)! I desperately miss Quinn, Ryan, Tasha, Marisa, "Roger", Venessa, Chaya, ect so very much. Hopefully I'll see most of them again soon.

So now, let's look for jobs in Californ-I-A. Immediamente.
